
What is the difference between taking the CERMAT exam after 5th, 7th, and 9th grade?
Students in the Czech Republic can take CERMAT exams after 5th, 7th, or 9th grade, depending on the type of school they wish to attend. Each stage provides access to different types of schools and educational programs.
1. Exams after 5th grade

Where can you go?
Admission to an 8-year grammar school (osmileté gymnázium). Students transfer directly after primary school. -

2. Exams after 7th grade

Admission to a 6-year grammar school (šestileté gymnázium). Students start in 8th grade and finish in 13th grade (around age 19). -
